BFS offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, which are open to everyone.
We run a huge range of clubs at BFS, running from 3:05 - 4:15pm nearly every day of the week. Activities include: Homework club, Book Club, Science Club, School Show Band Rehearsals, Fashion Show Club (invitation only), Girls’ football, Dance Club, Art Club, Hollow Trees (Folk Band), Computer Science & Programming Club, Creative Writing Club, Treble Bass (Jazz Band), Boys’ football, Warhammer Club, Cross Country, Poetry Slam.
We are fortunate to have such a wide range of committed staff and a number of external volunteers from the wider BFS community to deliver our ever evolving programme.
Duke of Edinburgh's Award at BFS
We offer students from Year 9 upwards the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh's Award - known as the 'DofE' for short.
Some 150 students set off on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions each year (whatever the weather!), armed with rucksacks and compasses and ready to face the challenges ahead. The popularity of DofE at Bristol Free School means that many progress from hiking in Cheddar Gorge to wild camping in the Brecon Beacons as they work through Bronze and Silver to the Gold Award.
DofE has a strong community service strand and the students also show remarkable energy for charitable causes, learning about being responsible citizens as they acquire new skills.
If you have any questions about how the scheme runs at BFS, please email Mr Wieczorek or Mr Ellis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
