KS3 Curriculum Guide - Year 9 Drama
Term 1Script Work   
Students will develop their performance skills by exploring various genres and styles of play scripts. They will learn how to block a scene and how to interpret a character.

Term 2Naturalism   
Students will develop their understanding of Naturalistic theatre through the practical exploration of Stanislavski's system. They will learn how to apply his methods in rehearsal and performance to create a naturalistic piece of theatre.

Term 3Theatre in Education   
Students will learn the purpose of T.I.E. and practically explore the skills and techniques required to create an effective piece.

Term 4Verbatim Theatre   
Students will learn how to perform in the style of Verbatim Theatre. They will practically explore published pieces and work towards creating their own piece of theatre in this style.

Term 5Blood Brothers   
Students will explore the play 'Blood Brothers' by Willy Russell. They will learn about the context, characters and key themes of the play through practical workshops and discussion.

Term 6Blood Brothers   
Students will work in groups to rehearse and perform a selection of scenes from Blood Brothers. The aim will be to showcase some of the pieces to an audience after school.
