KS3 Curriculum Guide - Year 8 Drama
Term 1Status   
Students will explore the concept of status in drama through the use of spontaneous and rehearsed improvisation. They will learn various ways of showing their character’s status and understand how status affects relationships in drama and the real world.

Term 2Script Work   
Students will learn how to use a script to create a performance. They will explore the various stages of staging a scripted piece and become familiar with the vocabulary involved in script work.

Term 3Voice/Accent   
Students will develop their vocal skills by experimenting with various accents. They will learn how to use their voice to create different characters and the vocabulary associated with voice work.

Term 4Shakespeare   
Students will practically explore Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. They will learn how to use the language in performance and experiment with staging specific sections of the play.

Term 5Non naturalistic theatre   
Students will explore how to use various non naturalistic techniques to create a piece of drama. They will develop their understanding of how to communicate meaning to an audience through the use of these techniques.

Students will use the skills and techniques they have explored throughout the year to create a devised piece based around a given stimulus.
