History Overview

Term 1: Medicine in Britain and Medicine on the Western Front

During this thematic study students will examine the developments in medicine in Britain from c1250 to the present day. This unit makes up 30% of the Edexcel GCSE course and is examined in Paper 1. Students will track improvements in medical treatment, improvements in understanding the causes of disease, changes in the treatment of illness and infection and the role of key individuals in pioneering changes in medicine. Students will complete a case study on the developments of medicine on the Western Front.

Students will complete a range of practice questions to develop their technique and application of historical knowledge throughout the unit. Upon completion, they will complete a full mock for Paper 1.

During this course students will spend examine the story of the development of Germany between 1918-1939. This unit makes up 30% of the Edexcel GCSE course and is examined in Paper 3. Students will examine key individuals, events and themes from throughout the period including; the establishment and rebellion within the Weimar Republic, Hitler's rise to power, the rise of the Nazi dictatorship and every day life in Nazi Germany.

Students will complete a range of practice questions to develop their technique and application of historical knowledge throughout the unit. Upon completion, they will complete a full mock for Paper 3.
