In addition to this extensive programme of activities, homework club will run from Monday – Thursday, 3:15 – 4:30pm in room 4. This is an opportunity for students to do their homework alongside their peers, with the added bonus of knowing that teachers are on hand to help when support is required.
The library will also be open to all students on Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes from 1pm-1.15pm. There is also scope to hold small reading groups during this time.
Description of club/activity
Arts Award: Arts Award is a recognised accredited award which inspires young people to develop their arts and leadership talents: it's creative, valuable and accessible. All students attending this club will be guided through the process to achieve the award at all levels, starting with bronze. Visit www.artsaward.org.uk for further information.
Art Club: Students will create art through a range of media and undertake exciting projects. Those who attend the club will have an opportunity to be part of the first BFS mural design to be created and displayed in the School.
Boys’ Choir + Mixed Choir: Come and learn to sing some fun arrangements of songs in a wide variety of styles. This term we will be working towards three exciting performanceopportunitiesboth in and out of School.
Computer Game Design Club: Don't just play computer games - make them yourself! In this club you will learn theprogramming skills needed to design and make your own computer games, from addictive web-based puzzle games to action and adventure epics set in fully3D worlds. Games you make during the club can be saved online,and even taken away to play on your Xbox 360. No previous experience necessary. Craft Club: Students will be making cards for every occasion, learning how to make homemade gifts and doing a little bit of scrapbooking!Creative Writing: Students will be experimenting with a variety of genres from slam poetry to travel blogs. There will also be an opportunity for students to enter a range of exciting competitions!
Dance Club: Students will have a chance to experience a variety of dance styles such as street, hip hop, contemporary alongside some performance and technical skills. Students will use this knowledge to prepare for performances and dance competitions both in and out of School.
Debate Society: “This house believes in freedom of speech!” A chance to debate topical issues which interest the students, this club allows students to improve their debating and arguing skills.
Film Critics’ Club: Are you interested in learning more about how producers, writers, editors, and actors shape your emotions towards films? In Film Critics’ Club we will explore various genres of film while still having a great time.
Italian Club: Students will have the chance to learn Italian, understand more about Italian culture and art treasures and explore the links to Latin grammar.
Mixed Summer Sports: This is an opportunity for both genders to have a go at some of the less traditional team sports such as Ultimate Frisbee, Baseball, Handball and much more, in one-off introductory sessions.
Musical Theatre: An exciting blend of singing, dancing and acting with a chance to perform your favourite musical numbers.
Orchestra: Are you learning to play a musicalinstrument inside or outside of School? TheBFS orchestra is a chance for musicians to come and play together, working towards three exciting performanceopportunities this term.
Scrapheap Challenge: In teams, students will have an hour to design and make the challenge of the week using recycled junk which Miss Bacon will provide!
Sport (cricket and rounders): Open to students who want to represent BFS in fixtures and competitions as well as those who want a purposeful and fun physical activity with their friends to build on skills developed in lessons.
Science Club: Students will be spending the sessions taking part in fun practical experiments which are not delivered through the curriculum, from creating bouncing custard balls to making slime: all in the name of science!
