Drama Overview

Term 1: Devised performance

Students will perform their devised piece to an audience and complete the analysis and evaluation section of their devising log books.

Students will be assessed on their performance in the piece and their logbook of the process.

Term 2: Script Work; Exploration

For this component students will study, rehearse and perform two scripted pieces (monologue, duologue or group performance)

from the same play. Students will begin by practically exploring a variety of scripts and select one that they would like to rehearse and perform for their exam.

Term 4: Script Work; develop and refine/Exam revision

Students will rehearse and develop their chosen two scenes. They will use a variety of exploration strategies to develop their character including off text improvisation, writing in role and swapping roles. Students will ensure that lines are learnt and production elements such as lighting, sound and costume are in place before performing their work to a visiting examiner. Students will revise all elements of the written exam. They will be given past paper questions to answer under exam conditions including unseen extracts of Blood Brothers.

Term 3: Blood Brothers/Live Theatre Evaluation

Students will revise all elements of the written exam. They will be given past paper questions to answer under exam conditions including unseen extracts of Blood Brothers.

Students will be assessed on practice exam questions.
